Cherry Tart

Ingredients

1 Plain flour 1/2 cup
2 Chilled Butter 25 gms + 1 tsp
3 Sugar 2 tbsp + 2 tsp
4 Milk 2 tbsp
5 Pitted Cherries 10 to 15
6 Cornflour 1/2 tbsp dissolved in 1/2 tbsp water
7 Vanilla Essence 2 drops
8 Food colour-Red (Optional) 1 drop

Method

1 Knead the flour together with Butter(25 gms), Sugar(1 tbsp) & Milk.
2 Roll of the dough into a circle using a rolling pin.
3 Line the tart mould with the rolled out dough.
4 In a bowl, beat butter and sugar with a hand blender.
5 Stir in the cornflour solution & pitted cherries and microwave for a min.
6 Fill the tart with the above cherry mixture.
7 Baste the tart with egg wash.
8 Bake for 20 minutes at 180° C or until it turns golden brown.
9 Decorate with sugar candies or sprinkles.

Tips

1 Serve with vanilla ice-cream.
2 Add almond extract instead of vanilla essence for variation in taste.
